I am really excited to participate and help lead the relaunch of the Social Media Club Dallas. With the brand name and national recognition of the Social Media Club founded by @KristieWells and @ChrisHeuer out of California, it is the right time to make this a lasting institution in the Dallas Metroplex. I also have to thank @Giovanni and @VargasL who had participated and led this organization originally.
We have a strong leadership team of @LevelTen_Colin, @Elysa, @NunezPR, @CGawley, @OhSoCynthia, @MASchweers, @chrisyates11 and @KaraHM21. After our first planning meeting last week I am very confident that we have the right team in place who are committed to creating a strong and lasting organization.
Mission of the Social Media Club
“Social Media Club hosts conversations that explore key issues facing our society as technologies transform the way we connect, communicate, collaborate and relate to each other. The Club’s primary mission is to promote media literacy, promote standard technologies, encourage ethical behavior and share best practices. We are active across the U.S. and Canada and expanding globally.”
Social Media Club Dallas aims to focus this club on social media practitioners in corporate, agency, and PR roles. While there are many independent social media consultants, we are primarily interested in how the medium to large enterprises are leveraging social media to reach, engage, and most importantly drive revenue. Furthermore, we are looking to see how companies are innovating, measuring and improving upon social media tactics.
Now we all know that social media is the great equalizer when it comes to the small business and the individual, but our goal is to focus on the complex issues facing organizations when trying to build brands, manage customer service, engage potential customers, and better the overall ecosystem.
Thanks to Moroch|Partners for becoming our first sponsor and agreeing to host the venue for our upcoming events. Our first meeting is scheduled at their office September 24th at 6:30pm. Unfortunately, when we picked this date last week, the DFW AMA didn’t have anything scheduled that evening on their website. It was my goal to avoid any conflicts with the AMA, Dallas Ad League and DFW Interactive Marketing Association as many of those folks will be our target audience.

Upcoming Event Dates: If you want to mark your calendar for the next two dates they are:
One of our goals for the club was to have food. Since the club meets at 6:30pm we know folks will be coming from work and we wanted everyone to be comfortable knowing they won’t starve. Please support Bread Winners by frequenting their establishment. Because our long term goal is to create a professional organization that attracts corporate marketers, agency execs and recognized experts, we felt having food would also make it more appealing to those interested in sharing best practices and learning from a community of learners. My suggestion is to arrive early as we will only have enough for 50-60 folks.
How to connect with us and share
I encourage you to join our communities on various social media outlets online. Click on the images below.
Official Name: Social Media Club Dallas
Twitter: @dallassmc – Still working to get @smcdallas from user
What’s to come
We are working on a website and Firehost has agreed to be our official hosting sponsor. If you are a WordPress wizard we could definitely use some volunteer(s) in that area as well to get all the infrastructure setup. As we also assume folks will be video taping portions of our events we have created a YouTube channel. Still working to get the username “smcdallas” if they will respond on YouTube.
We are securing speakers for each month and hope to actually recruit some national speakers as well. Because of the size of the group and the recognition of the Social Media Club, our goal would be to get eventually engage @chrisbrogan or @charleneli to hit us up during their national book tours. Of course, many of our speakers will be local experts in their field and corporate marketers and agencies innovating everyday in their trade.
I look forward to meeting many of you personally and professionally and please share your comments and suggestions for the club below.
