Thx Lissa. I am now using Friendfeed instead of this method. If I get around to it I may record a video of how to do this.

Mike, great post! Thanks for sharing! I was wanting to learn how to set this up for myself and then eventually implement for my clients. Great information!

So finally i got back to twitterfeed about 4 a.m. this morning. To my mind it never worked. However, after carefully reading, and understanding what i was looking at this time, it only posts new content it finds once every [time period] But it only does it once. This is nearly useless for a blogger that already manually bookmarks, pings, and miniblogs everywhere else.

I thought the thing tweeted my top 3 or however many, blogs every hour.

Imagine my frustration at seeing an old blog post from 4 months ago as my last twitterfeed.

To me the program is useless. I have twirl up anyway and i do a much better miniblog on twitter than twitterfeed does. They should rethink their product.

As for people feeding in reuters, that's just ... crazy, they'll just lose followers that way.

Mike,

Love the blog post.

Our implementation is different :) Same thought process though.

You are using 'stars' and I am using 'shared items' within @GoogleReader. I prefix all my tweets in TwitterFeed using Shared by Dan Ross so that people know (1) It isn't my work (2) It probably will take them to another website and (3) I find this article of value so I am sharing it with them. The key thing for me is ADDING VALUE to others and getting to stick my head in this river of information referred to as the 'Twitterverse' by Joel Comm (@JoelComm).

Twitter is a frictionless opportunity for people & businesses to add massive amounts of value to people. I am amazed that more people don't realize the opportunity that is before them. Some can give away content, some can link to neat content, some can use it to highlight their business/interests, others for conversations, etc. Not everyone is using it for the same purpose but I think it boils down to adding value to others.

While I am using TwitterFeed I do so hesitantly because, as you pointed out "If you have seen tweets stating ”Get 10,000 followers now” or “Twitter Traffic Machine” this post details some of their secret sauce." <--I don't like being associated with anyone REMOTELY interested in spamming / polluting the stream but it is a viable method of sharing information for those working in a Fortune 500 environment, where corporate firewalls block most forms of social engagement altogether except LinkedIn.

Anyway, keep up the great work! I enjoy the posts
